Master’s Degree Programs in Counseling

At the master’s level, we offer CACREP-accredited programs in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and in School Counseling.

The Clinical Mental Health Counseling program is designed to prepare licensed professional counselors who will work with children, adolescents and/or adults in community agency settings. The Clinical Mental Health Counseling program meets the academic and internship requirements for licensure as a professional counselor (LPC) in the State of Mississippi. At the end of their coursework, students are eligible to sit for National Counselor Exam (NCE) to become a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (P-LPC). This provisional license is the first step to full licensure offered by the Mississippi State Board of Examiners for Licensed Professional Counselors.

The School Counseling program is designed to prepare professional licensed school counselors who will work in K-12 educational settings. The School Counseling program meets the academic and internship requirements for licensure as a school counselor in the State of Mississippi. Upon graduation students are eligible to sit for the national PRAXIS examination in school counseling and to apply to the State for licensure as a school counselor.
