Admission Questions

How is admission to the programs determined?

The Counselor Education program does not have a required minimum score for the GRE. The minimum GPA of 3.0 is the policy of the Graduate School; therefore, it applies to all graduate programs. We know that applicants have more to offer than these numbers alone. We review the statement of purpose to learn if the program is a good fit for the applicant’s goals and we examine the resume to get some perspective on the applicant’s professional experience. We evaluate the materials submitted and consider the whole application, rather than focus on any one part.

How many students typically get accepted into the programs?

The number of applicants varies from year to year, and the number of accepted students does as well. Our programs are competitive, which allows us to ensure smaller class sizes and adequate field site placements.
